JCrew came out with an ad showing a mother painting her sons toes pink, stating "Lucky for me I ended up with a boy whose favorite color is pink..."

I love it. I think it is great.  This mother enjoys spending time with her son, but isn't it extra special that they both like the color pink :)

Wow, do people disagree....

There have been several people up in arms about this ad stating that it is wrong for a mother to paint her sons nails pink because it might cause gender confusion and/or homosexuality. WHAT???

I realize since I do not have children I do not have a lot of credibility in this topic, however, I am still disgusted at the fact that people are truly concerned at the fact that because this child was having his toe nails painted pink, he is going to have issues down the line.

Is it because the color is pink? Would it be ok if he wanted to paint his toes black? No, because then he would grow up to be dark and twisted, a goth child that has black hair and wear combat boots... right???

Is it because he simply likes to have his toe nails painted. My nephew at that age always wanted to have his toes painted, because thats what is mommy did. He is now 6 and is an all star athlete and talks about his "girlfriends" in kindergarten.... he was never phased by having his toe nails painted.

The main culprit of this debate is a Fox News Rep (go figure). This person even made sarcastic reference to the fact that next JCrew would place the boy in a sundress...
and once again... what would be wrong with that.

Here is what is wrong... the fact that people tell their children they should or should not do things because of their gender... like boys can't like the color pink or play with dolls because that is "gay"- what if they have a little sister- does that mean they can never play together?

My brother had a boy cabbage patch doll growing up.... I can tell you that he is very much a male and likes women.

I could go on, but my point is. This ad is nothing more then a mother enjoying time with her son!

Let your children be who they want to be. If young Beckett from the Jcrew ad grows up to be gay, who cares, but I can tell you that it is not because he chose to have his toe nails painted pink.
