what is important at Christmas time...

This time of year it is rare to sit down and have a moment where you really just think about what is important in your life and what really matters.

Yesterday I gave my self that chance....
my sister let me know that her niece who is 6 years old has been sick and that they found a mass in her brain... obviously the first thing in everyone's mind is brain tumor... a six year old with a tumor in her brain at Christmas time...

I took a few minutes from my work and just sat and thought about all the things that I have to be thankful for this time of year. My health, my families health... so many things that are important. Christmas is so wrapped up in gifts and parties that it is important to take this time and think about what really matters...

As of this morning the mass in Allies brain is not cancer! She will have surgery to remove it, but she will be ok!

I am going to take a step back and stop stressing about if I have enough gifts, am I making the right recipes, what if I gain 10 lbs over the holidays... I am going to just be happy and grateful that I have my health and the love of my family and that is all that matters this Holiday season.

What is important to you at Christmas?

*side note... please always always get a second opinion from doctors. Especially when it comes to your children. Allie was sick for a week and the Dr. kept saying it was other things... her mom knew it was something else. Thankfully she went with her gut, got another opinion and realized that there was the mass on her daughters brain..... Doctors are human and they can make mistakes, but that is why it is important to always get another opinion**

This is awful.

It's crazy how wrapped up we can get in the "spirit" and how we forget to remember what it's really about.
